Note to AOL users:

We created Forgive.org to serve the greatest variety of visitors with the best quality possible. In doing so, we decided to use high quality, high resolution images which -- on some computers/browsers -- may present a challenge. If you are an AOL visitor and are experiencing difficulty (blurry or blotchy graphics or odd stripes), this is a fairly common problem and can be fixed quickly and easily.

In fact, by adjusting a single setting in your browser, you'll not only improve the quality of your visit at Forgive.org, but at nearly every other web site you visit as well. By default, there is a setting in your browser that is set to "low" quality, which you need to change. Here's all you need to do:

1. Determine Your AOL Version
For starters, make sure that you are using AOL 3.0 or 4.0. Versions prior to this (e.g., 2.0 or 2.5) will encounter significant difficulty on today's Internet. To determine which version of AOL you have:

Start your AOL software. Go to the "Help" menu. Choose the "About America Online" option. If your version is lower than 3.0, you'll want to upgrade by going to AOL's Keyword: UPGRADE.

NOTE: Even if you have "3.0 for Windows" or "4.0 for Windows," and your computer is using the Windows 95/98 operating system, our webmasters suggest upgrading to "3.0 for Windows 95" or "4.0 for Windows 95/98." These versions have some enhanced web-browsing capabilities, which will allow you to use other outside web browsers, such as Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Explorer.

2. Change This Setting...

If you are running AOL version 4.0 for Windows 95/98: Start your AOL software. Click the "My AOL" icon. Click on the "WWW" button, which will bring up "AOL Internet Properties". Choose the "Web Graphics" tab. Make sure the checkbox for "Use compressed graphics" has no X in it. If there is already an X in it (the default setting), click the checkbox until it is gone. Now choose the "Advanced" tab. Halfway down the box, there will be a "Temporary Internet Files" section, with a button labeled "Settings". Clicking this will take you to a box with a button labeled "Empty Folder." Clicking this will empty the "cache" (the section of memory on your hard drive that stores previously loaded web pages & images). Click "OK" to return to "AOL Internet Properties", and click "OK" again to return to the "Preferences" box -- close this, and you are ready to run AOL with your new settings!

If you are running AOL version 3.0 for Windows 95: Start your AOL software. Go to the "Members" menu. Choose the "Preferences" option. Halfway down the box, there will be a "Temporary Internet Files" section, with a button labeled "Settings." Clicking this will take you to a box with a button labeled "Empty Folder." Clicking this will empty the "cache" (the section of memory on your hard drive that stores previously loaded web pages & images). Click "OK" to return to "AOL Internet Properties," and click "OK" again to return to the "Preferences" box -- close this, and you are ready to run AOL with your new settings!

Following these suggestions should greatly improve not only your viewing of Forgive.org, but of many other web sites as well.

We have tried to make these instructions as simple as possible. Still, you may have questions. If so, simply call your AOL representative and explain what you're trying to do. And please, if after adjusting the above settings, you still encounter difficulty with Forgive.org, our webmasters want to know. Feel free to e-mail us with your results: webmaster@msia.org

Thank you, and enjoy the site!
